It reflects the company's philanthropic vision, where communities benefit from its business activities both now and in the future. It aims to improve the citizens' quality life and make a real difference by providing support that responds to society's needs and challenges.
Program Components
The Social Investment and Community Engagement Program consists of two components, one of which is to make financial contributions, while the other is in the form of involvement by Valero employees in volunteer work with local organizations.
As part of the investment component, Valero Energy established a donation and sponsorship program, as there are numerous causes that deserve support, and that is why guidelines have been developed to assist with the selection of philanthropic cases. Valero Energy supports initiatives in one or several niches of community involvement:
- Success and school perseverance;
- Families, women, immigrants and elders;
- Healthy lifestyle and food security.
The missions or initiatives of organizations wishing to submit an application must correspond to these sectors. Moreover, community initiatives receiving financial support from Valero Energy must generate concrete and measurable defining results both qualitatively and quantitatively within a given community.
