Montreal, January 23, 2014 - Mr. Ross R. Bayus, President, Canadian Operations, Valero Energy Inc., is pleased to announce that thanks to the success of its annual benefit golf tournament, held last August 20th at the Saint Raphaël Golf Club on Île-Bizard, 73 children’s charitable organizations have been supported by the Ultramar Foundation. Over the past 9 years, $3.5 million have thus been raised to support such organizations in Quebec, Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces.
For 2014, the Foundation has changed its name in order to reflect the new corporate identity and will be called Valero Energy Foundation of Canada.
“Providing direct financial support to local organizations that work so hard to improve the well-being of individuals and the development of the community is the mission of the Valero Energy Foundation of Canada,” stated Mr. Bayus. The community organizations (the list of which is attached) that benefited from these donations are dedicated to improving the lives of children by offering a wide range of services that are greatly appreciated. Encompassing support to children who are mentally or physically handicapped, advice on preventing violence or abuse, education on healthy eating practices, distribution of balanced meals and school supplies, wide ranging assistance to disadvantaged children, help in reducing the school dropout rate, support for specialized healthcare and general medical research, the work of the Valero Energy Foundation of Canada reflects the Company’s involvement in the regions where it operates.
“Considering the event’s popularity over the last eight years, the ninth edition had a special injection of energy thanks to the participation of new customers and business partners. This great contribution from everyone, including our employees who select the benefiting organizations, allowed us to continue to support the lives of thousands of children who are disadvantaged or who experience difficult situations in Eastern Canada. We are very proud to be associated with so many worthy causes,” concluded Mr. Bayus.
